About AKUTR's...

The Best of AKUTR's

'BUT FIRST AN APOLOGY'

A Kick Up The R’s is now QPR’s only remaining printed fanzine.

It was one of the first independent fans’ magazines (hence: fanzine) that sprung up in the mid-80s. It emerged from the aftermath of the failed attempt in 1987 by Marler Estates to merge QPR and Fulham, with the new incarnation hideously to be called Fulham Park Rangers.

Direct action by both sets of fans and the support of other clubs won the day – and from the protests came QPR’s first and now longest-running independent voice.

Issue 1 was launched at the beginning of the 1987/88 season.

Costing just 40p, it hit the streets around Loftus Road… to the indifference of most QPR fans! Not so in the corridors of power at the club, where vigorous attempts were made to strangle at birth this new upstart publication!

The story of A Kick Up The R’s from those humble beginnings to award-winning publication will be told in full in the pages of the magazine, starting in Issue 224.
